Official Alejandro music video

Alejandro is the third single off The Fame Monster. It was shot on April 30, 2010 by fashion photographer Steve Klein. Gaga said that the video was set to be released on May 31. However it finally premiered on Gaga’s official website on June 8th. Shortly after the video were available at her Vevo and on Youtube.

About the video

The video is 8 minutes and 43 seconds long. Gaga claims the video is abut the purity of her friendship with her gay friends, and how she has been unable to find that with a straight man. She says it confesses her envy of the bravery they require of being together.

Soldiers in high heels

The video begins with the words “GAGA”, KLEIN, and “ALEJANDRO”. Then the video shows a group of soldiers wearing high-heels, sitting quietly at tables. It fades in to dark and then men wearing boots and boxer briefs start to march in a military fashion. When Lady Gaga appears in the video she is wearing a black garment and a metal headpiece that looks like a crown and metal goggles cower her eyes.

As the video continues Gaga walks through falling snow, carrying a bloody heart with a metal wire. The men follow her are carrying a black coffin. Before the song begins, Gaga speaks a few phrases in front of the coffin. The seen cuts to show Gaga and a man imitating anal sex, however Gaga is taking the dominant role.

A red nun outfit

Further on in the video, we see Gaga dancing alone in black and white scenes joined by men in uniforms. At the end, the video shows Gaga in a red nun outfit, with Alejandro sitting at the edge of the bed. The film begins to burn from her face as the camera approaches her.

Fear of Sex Monster

"Alejandro" is the third single from Lady Gaga's second album "The Fame Monster". It is produced and co-written by RedOne, the Swedish producer who helped her produce hit songs like "Just Dance", "Poker Face" and "Lovegame". The song goes with the general "Monster"-theme on the album, it's said to symbolize her "Fear of Sex Monster". "Alejandro" is heavily inspired by the Swedish artists ABBA and Ace of Base.

Pushed to be the third single by Gaga herself

The label company didn't want "Alejandro" to be the third single from "The Fame Monster", instead they preferred "Dance in the Dark". It was Lady Gaga herself that pushed for "Alejandro" to be lifted to be released as the third single.

This appearence on the American Idol show in the spring of 2010 could be seen as a vision of what was to come when the full Alejandro video was released later in 2010. One thing that got picked up for the full video is the half-naked men with Calvin Klein underwear.
