Finally the Alejandro video is released! It's directed by Steven Klein, the American art photographer. Once again, Lady Gaga performs in a video full of symbolism that leaves the viewer thinking. See it for yourself!
The stylist behind Alejandro, Nicola Formichetti is known by his aggressively modern looks. He first met Gaga at her photo shoot for V magazine and claims it was an instant love.
"Alejandro" is the third single from Lady Gaga's second album "The Fame Monster". It is produced and co-written by RedOne, the Swedish producer who helped her produce hit songs like "Just Dance", "Poker Face" and "Lovegame". The song goes with the general "Monster"-theme on the album, it's said to symbolize her "Fear of Sex Monster". "Alejandro" is heavily inspired by the Swedish artists ABBA and Ace of Base.
Lady Gaga's various scene performances of "Alejandro" might be the ones most alluding to sex so far. Her performances has been called a "thinly-veiled performance dripping with sex and violins".
Lady Gaga has always had a weak spot for Sweden, the remote scandinavian country up north. "Alejandro" is co-written and produced by Swedish producer RedOne, so the obvious influences of ABBA and Ace of Base are not hard to understand.
This is a sneak peak of the "Alejandro"-video, directed by Steven Klein which was released the 1st of June 2010. The full version is said to be "Coming soon".
The label company didn't want "Alejandro" to be the third single from "The Fame Monster", instead they preferred "Dance in the Dark". It was Lady Gaga herself that pushed for "Alejandro" to be lifted to be released as the third single.
This appearence on the American Idol show in the spring of 2010 could be seen as a vision of what was to come when the full Alejandro video was released later in 2010. One thing that got picked up for the full video is the half-naked men with Calvin Klein underwear.
This is a live performance of "Alejandro" by Lady Gaga at a concert in Strasbourg. The quality is quite bad as it's filmed by a fan at the concert, but you can see the whole performance, including Lady Gaga's bloody chest.
